The Strength of Women
With International Women’s Day coming up, I’ve been thinking a lot about the place women are holding in our world today. Not just in the headlines or in positions of influence, but in everyday spaces — in homes, in workplaces, in friendships, in communities, and in quiet personal battles that most people never see.
There is a depth of strength in women that often goes unnoticed because it doesn’t always announce itself. It shows up in persistence. In showing up when you’re tired. In carrying responsibility for others while still trying to care for yourself. In rebuilding after loss. In starting something new. In healing from something old. I see it constantly — in mothers, in business owners, in students, in leaders, in women doing the brave work of growth and change.
What stands out to me even more than individual strength is what happens when women support one another. When there is encouragement instead of comparison. When there is collaboration instead of competition. When someone says, “I understand,” or “You’re not alone,” and truly means it. There is something powerful about women gathering — whether that’s in a therapy room, around a dinner table, in a professional group, or through a simple text exchange — and creating space where honesty is safe.
Community changes things. It softens isolation. It steadies doubt. It expands courage. I have seen women thrive when they feel supported rather than judged. I have watched confidence grow when there is room to take up space without apology. When women lift one another up, the impact reaches far beyond the moment. It reaches into families, into workplaces, into the way children understand strength and respect.
And this is not only a message for women. International Women’s Day is also an invitation for everyone — regardless of gender — to notice, celebrate, and support the women in their own lives. Support can look simple. It can look like listening without rushing to fix. Like acknowledging the invisible labor that so often goes unseen. Like advocating for fairness in professional spaces. Like encouraging rest, boundaries, and self-trust. Like celebrating growth, not just achievement.
When women are empowered, communities become healthier. When women feel seen and valued, they are more likely to seek support, pursue opportunity, and step fully into their gifts. And when communities intentionally support women, everyone benefits.
International Women’s Day is a reminder — not just to celebrate women, but to continue building spaces where women are respected, encouraged, and supported every day. Strength is not about doing it all alone. It is about connection. It is about resilience shaped by community. It is about choosing to stand beside one another.
Today and beyond, may we continue creating communities where women feel safe to grow, safe to lead, safe to rest, and safe to be fully themselves.
